CARING FOR YOUR GINEW GARMENTS

Ginew focuses on using premium materials including selvedge denim, wax canvas and all-cotton construction. These materials are meant to last with the proper care. We've provided a laundry symbol cheat sheet below. This will help decipher the icons you see on your care tags. Always reference the care instructions tag on your specific garment for the specific laundering.
A LAUNDRY SYMBOL CHEAT SHEET
Did you know those symbols have a lot of meaning + will help your garments stay in the best condition possible? Most symbols are standardized across the garment industry. You may see some slight variations from time to time.
COMMON MATERIAL QUESTIONS:
Are your selvedge denim jeans sanforized?
The selvedge denim jeans from Vidalia Mills are not sanforized.
Will cotton garments shirk?
The majority of Ginew's t-shirts and button downs are all cotton. Follow the Care Instructions (which can be found at the bottom of each product page) and/or will be on the garment tag on your item. For example: most of Ginew's tees are: Machine Wash inside out with like colors in Cold with mild detergent, Hang Dry upside down. For many of our button downs: Hand Wash with Cold Water, Hang Dry, Do not Machine Dry, Do not Dry Clean, Do not Bleach.
NOTE: All fabric shrinks some over time with any kind of washing. Shrinkage from washing cotton is caused by heat and agitation. Handwashing cold with minimal agitation will not noticeably shrink the shirt for a few years. All cotton will shrink if hot water is used in the wash and/or heat is used for drying on a regular basis. Even if the fabric is “pre-shrunk”, shrinkage does occur.
Should I wash wax canvas items in the washing machine?
No. Please reference the care tag on your specific item. General instructions for Wax Canvas items are: Hand Wash with Cold Water, Hang Dry, Do not Machine Dry, Do not Dry Clean or Do not Bleach.
If I decide to re-wax my wax canvas garments what should I use?
Ginew does not sell wax for re-waxing garments. Feel free to email Orders@GinewUSA.com for any questions.
Do you use real indigo?
Yes, for garments with the term Indigo in the title, Ginew uses real indigo dye.
