THE LEGENDARY COAT - REBORN

The GINEW apparel journey began nearly 15 years ago on a chilly, coffee-fueled morning in Marfa, TX. We wondered...what was it like for our great-grandfathers who experienced the transition from a seasonal, migratory lifestyle to an agrarian one? What structure and functional elements would they need in an coat? What designs would be meaningful to them? There began the story of the HERITAGE COAT - GINEW's first garment. Now the legend continues...

In crafting the BILL BARN COAT, we have meticulously recreated a meaningful garment inspired by the co-founder's great-grandfather Chi-ininii (Big Man in Ojibwe) – aka "Bill." The premium materials of the BILL BARN COAT are more than wool, cotton, and brass; they are oral histories, old photographs, and traditional lore. These coats were built to be essential tools, worn in the shops, forests, and fields by relatives who dedicated themselves to the hard labor of providing for their loved ones.
