KURABO DENIM + REGULAR RISE + LEATHER RAVEN PATCH
(Pssst... there is a hidden embroidered Four Direction icon - see if you can find it!)

Our softest denim. Erik Brodt, Ginew's co-founder shares his inspiration for this denim's custom color wash: The Raven Jean is born of the days bringing “Raven” - a 1971 F250 Camper Special truck back to daily driving condition. Hours and hours were spent in the Texas heat bringing Raven to its current form, and my jeans from those days have the blood, sweat, tears, and laughter faded into them.

The wash on this new Raven Jean emulates the very chevrons, fades, whiskers from wear… phone, Leatherman, key ring, and all.  Born of time spent to keep a classic rolling. No better way to honor the Raven truck than with the artistic talents of J. Younger.

ABOUT THE ARTIST & THE RAVEN
Younger is a Tlingit artist from Sitka, Alaska and we love her work. So, we asked her to design a Raven which is on the leather patch on the jean and the interior pocket. We have incorporated that Raven into bandanas, t-shirts and now we are proud to share our latest garment that incorporates the Raven: The Raven Jean. It took us a while to get the jeans exactly how we wanted them... perfection does take time!

About Raven: The Tlingit people of Southeast Alaska have two descent groups, call moieties. The two moieties are Raven (Yéil) and Eagle (Ch'aak'). Younger is Eagle. Throughout her jewelry making she is drawn to the Raven designs, as her opposite. Younger shares more of the story:

There are many stories of Raven in Northwest Coast culture. In Tlingit culture there are two different characters: one is the creator raven and the other is sly and conniving raven." ~ J. Younger

Salmonberry Weaving Pattern
Younger draws inspiration from traditional Tlingit formline designs, historic artifacts, spruce root basket weaving patterns and other inspirations. You'll notice something special on the back right pocket of this jean: weaving in Salmonberry pattern. Salmonberries are very abundant in southeast Alaska and it’s a staple in summer gathering.  Ginew is proud to offer you our newest item that incorporates the Raven and the salmonberry pattern - may you have an abundant life. WEAR WITH SPIRIT friends.
