Team Ginew loves working with Kassie Kussman, Cherokee silversmith, and we asked her to make some Thunderbird necklaces. We are happy to share these handcrafted pieces: Sterling silver and hand-stamped tag pendant. Tag hangs on an adjustable dark brown deer leather lace necklace. The pendant measures 1.8 inch high x 1 inch wide (leather lace is length adjustable). Artists' maker's mark is stamped on the back with "ᏣᎳᎩ" = Cherokee written in the Cherokee syllabary.
Artist Biography
Kassie is a Cherokee silversmith and artist who blends traditional and contemporary designs into her art. Rooted in her Indigenous heritage, she uses her creations as a way to connect with her culture and to express her identity as an Indigenous woman. Kassie handcrafts each heirloom-quality piece in the Mean Right Hook studio, infusing them with both cultural meaning and her own unique personal narrative.
