Intense copper-colored thread that catches and reflects light beautifully + black twill background. Sew this on your favorite Ginew garment or nearly anything.
The Thunderbird encompasses the emotions of a road trip in a 1971 F250 from our ancestral homelands of the Great Lakes to the Pacific Northwest. Each spring thunderclouds build and bring new expectations. We are sensitive to this restlessness. The Thunderbird faces West: the direction thunder beings travel.
The Thunderbird design, launched in 2016, is Ginew's interpretation of an Ojibwe tribal symbol. "Versions of this symbol are everywhere around the reservation. When I was a kid, the Thunderbird icon was on cars, canoes, sides of barns and homes. It was even carved into logs I'd discover as I walked deep into the woods." - Erik Brodt, Ginew's co-founder.
