GINEW: NAMESAKE ORIGINS

 The word Ginew (Gih-noo) is part of co-founder Erik Brodt's Ojibwe name. In his Tribe's teachings, the Ginew (Brown/Golden Eagle) has the perspective to see into both the living world and spirit world.

After death, as you transition to the spirit world one will encounter the Ginew sitting atop a big white pine tree. The Ginew then asks, “Who are you and who is your family?” You must answer in order to proceed. Responding affirms one's place. Our place is our family.
