GINEW'S OJIBWE THUNDERBIRD

Childhood memories on the reservation... 

The iconic Thunderbird design by Ginew was launched in 2016. The form is Ginew's interpretation of an Ojibwe tribal symbol. Ginew's co-founder, Erik Brodt - Ojibwe, shares his memories: "Versions of this symbol are everywhere around the reservation. When I was a kid, the Thunderbird icon was on cars, canoes, sides of barns and homes. It was even carved into logs I'd discover as I walked deep into the woods." 

Ginew's Thunderbird has been represented on may garments over the years including a handknit sweater, t-shirts in colorways including black, green, blue... we've created patches for our Trucker hats and it's shown up on accessories like patches and bandanas.
